Police arrest Government Railway Police officer in Assam’s Karimganj district

Guwahati, Dec 21 (IBNS): Police have arrested an officer of the Government Railway Police (GRP) for his alleged involvement in illegal activities in Assam’s Karimganj district on Thursday.

According to the reports, Kanak Chandra Nath, Officer-in-Charge of Government Railway Police at Badarpur railway station, allegedly sold the illegal items seized by the Government Railway Police in black market.

Following the inputs about the illegal activities, a team of Karimganj district police launched an operation and arrested the Government Railway Police officer.

Karimganj district police have registered a case against Kanak Chandra Nath at Karimganj Sadar police station.

“Allegation was made against Kanak Chandra Nath, Officer-in-Charge of GRP at Badarpur railway station that, he sold the illegal items seized by the GRP in black market illegally. When we were received information about the illegal activities, an inquiry was initiated under a DSP rank officer. We received sufficient evidence, immediately registered a case and arrested the officer,” Gaurav Upadhyay, Superintendent of Police of Karimganj district said.
