New Delhi, Sept 10 (IBNS): Interpol has issued a red corner notice (RCN) against Purvi Modi, sister of fugitive billionaire jeweller Nirav Modi, in connection with the two billion-dollar  PNB money laundering case, media reports said quoting officials.

Purvi Modi is a Belgian national. She has been charged by the Enforcement Directorate with playing "a major role in laundering the proceeds of crime generated from the PNB scam and being a beneficiary of the scam."

She was named by ED  in the first charge sheet filed in the case before a Mumbai court in May.

It has been alleged that the the overseas companies linked to her, a number of them  bogus, were formed  to camouflage the criminal origin of funds in these companies.

Last week, Interpol had issued red corner notice against Nirav Modi's second-in-command Mihir Bhansali, believed to be living in the US. He is also believed to be actively involved in laundering the proceeds of the scam
