PM Narendra Modi wins 2016 Readers' Poll Time Person of the Year
According to the Time magazine, "Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has won the online reader’s poll for TIME Person of the Year, beating out other world leaders, artists and politicians as the most influential figure in 2016 among people who voted."
The magazine's editors finally decide the Person of the Year, which will be declared on Wednesday.
According to the Time, Modi won with 18 per cent of the vote when the polling closed Sunday at midnight.
Modi was placed well ahead of his closest contenders, including Barack Obama, Donald Trump and Julian Assange, who all received 7% of the “yes” vote, said the magazine report.
This is the second time that Prime Minister Narendra Modi won the online Readers’ Poll for the Time Person of the Year title, having won it earlier in 2014.
