Indian PM Narendra Modi and his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis met in Athens on Friday when the two leaders agreed to elevate their relationship to a ‘Strategic Partnership’.

"The two leaders held discussions in one-on-one and delegation-level formats. Prime Minister expressed his condolences for the loss of life and property lives in the tragic incidents of forest fires in Greece," read a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.

The Greek Minister congratulated Modi on the success of the Indian lunar mission Chandrayaan-3.

He described it as a success for humanity.

"The discussions covered various dimensions of the bilateral partnership, including trade and investment, defense and security, technology, infrastructure, digital payments, shipping, pharma, agriculture, migration and mobility, tourism, skill development, culture, education and people to people ties. They also discussed regional and multilateral issues, including the EU, Indo-Pacific and the Mediterranean," read the MEA statement.

Modi visited Greece earlier in the day after completing South African trip.

Modi visited South African to attend the 15th BRICS Summit and held bilateral meetings with several world leaders to further cement India's relations with those countries.
