PM Modi's qualification remark: Assam court asks Kejriwal to appear in court on April 7

Guwahati, Jan 30 (IBNS): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal now faces another trouble after a local court of Assam asked him to appear before it on April 7 in connection with a criminal defamation case registered against him for his remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's educational qualification.

The Diphu Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court has asked the Delhi CM to appear before the court on April 7 after his counsel sought time for his client.

The criminal defamation case registered following a case lodged by Surjya Rongphar, a BJP leader and Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) against the AAP leader on December 26.

Earlier, the court summoned Kejriwal to appear before it on Monday.

But, the lawyer of Kejriwal sought time from the court for his client's appearance.

“Kejriwal on December 15 last tweets that PM Modi has passed only 12th standard, and thereafter degrees are fake. Kejriwal's remarks on PM is totally baseless and misleading. So I had filed a criminal defamation case against the Delhi Chief Minister for his baseless remarks on PM,” Rongphar had said.
