PM Modi wishes President Mukherjee from Siachen

Srinagar, Oct 23 (IBNS): Narendra Modi greeted President Pranab Mukherjee from the Siachen Glacier in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday as the Prime Minister visited the world's highest battlefield to spend some time with the jawans on the occasion of the 'festival of lights'.

Modi tweeted: "Wished President Pranab Mukherjee a very Happy Diwali from Siachen! Am sure this would be among the most unique greetings Pranab Da received."

He said: "From the icy heights of the Siachen Glacier & with the brave Jawans & Officers of the Armed Forces, I wish all of you a Happy Diwali.Perhaps this is the 1st time that a PM has got the wonderful opportunity of spending time with our Jawans on this auspicious day of Diwali."

Narendra Modi on Thursday began a hectic day with his visit to the Siachen Glacier where he aimed to "stand shoulder to shoulder with" soldiers on the occasion of Diwali.

Ahead of beginning his journey, Modi posted on Twitter: "Friends, I am leaving for Siachen Glacier. Its my good fortune that I will be able to spend time with our brave soldiers on this special day."
