PM Modi vacates Vadodara seat, retains Varanasi
New Delhi, May 29 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who won the 2014 general elections by a huge margin from both Varanasi and Vadodara Lok Sabha constituencies, on Thursday vacated the Vadodara Parliamentary seat, retaining the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat.
"Shri Narendra Modi sent in his resignation as a Member of Parliament from Vadodara to Speaker of Lok Sabha today," said the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
Modi contested against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal and Congress leader Ajai Rai in Varanasi.
The BJP won 73 of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh.
