PM Modi to kickstart election campaign in Meghalaya on Dec 16

Guwahati, Dec 8 (IBNS) : As the BJP strives for expansion into Meeghalaya after Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will kickstart election campaign for his party in the state on December 16.

Meghalaya state BJP president Shibun Lyngdoh said Modi is likely to address a public meeting and kickstart election campaign at the Polo ground.

Modi will also inaugurate a party office in Shillong  the same day.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh was supposed to inaugurate the party office on December 7, but he cancelled his schedule.

The election to the 60-member Meghalaya assembly is likely to be held early next year.

Lyngdoh said the party's state unit  has started preparation for the PM's visit.
