Chennai, Apr 12 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reached Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu, to participate in the Defence Expo.

Modi reached the southern state on Thursday morning.

He was welcomed by Tamil Nadu deputy Chief Minister O Paneerselvam at the city airport.

Amid Modi's arrival in Chennai, several protesters blocked roads over the Cauvery river water issue.

People, who were protesting against the central government for not forming the Cauvery river water board, were holding black flags to oppose Modi's visit.

Modi had to avoid the blocked road and avail a bypass to reach the venue.
