PM Modi pays tribute to mortal remains of Karunanidhi

Chennai, Aug 8 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the mortal remains of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK patriarch, M Karunanidhi, who passed away a day ago, at Rajaji Hall in Chennai on Wednesday.

Karunanidhi, a five-time Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu who had switched to politics from screenwriting, died at an age of 94.

He passed away at 6:10 pm, Kauvery Hospital in Chennai where he was admitted.

The country is observing a national mourning day on Wednesday due to the demise of the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.

Karunanidhi will be buried at Chennai's Marina Beach.
