New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday led the nation in praising the Indian cricket team for beating England in the fourth Test to take a 2-1 unbeatable lead in the five-match series on Monday.

India produced a clinical performance to beat England by 157 runs on the final day of the fourth Test.

"Great day (again) on the vaccination front and on the cricket pitch. As always, #TeamIndia wins!" tweeted PM Modi.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly praised the party's win tweeting: "Great show ..The skill is the difference but the biggest difference is the absorbing power of pressure..indian cricket is far ahead then the rest."

BCCI secretary Jay Shah hailed the win at The Oval as "spectacular".

Umesh Yadav (3/60), Jasprit Bumrah (2/27), Ravindra Jadeja (2/50) and Shardul Thakur (2/22) starred for India with the ball in the final innings.

It was only the second Test win for India at the Oval and first after the historic 1971 triumph under Ajit Wadekar.

With India taking a 2-1 series lead over England at the Oval, the series now moves to Manchester's Old Trafford for the fifth and final Test which will begin on September 10.

Actor Suniel Shetty also posted his wishes on Twitter.

Businessman Anand Mahindra congratulated the team on "an amazing display of self-confidence & aggression".
