New Delhi, May 27 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, which is India’s first smart and green 6-lane highway.

The expressway, which is also known as KGP expressway (Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal),will connect Palwal, Gautam Budh Nagar, Faridabad and Ghaziabad.

According to reports, the expressway will be signal free.

The highway got ready in a record time of 500 days as against the estimated time of 910 days.

The Eastern Peripheral Expressway will provide a diversion route to around 2 lakh vehicles passing through the national capital.

This would help in the reduction of commercial traffic entering Delhi by 30%, the government claimed.
