PM Modi condoles former Singapore President S.R.Nathan's death

New Delhi, Aug 23 IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday condoled the demise of former President of Singapore S.R.Nathan.

"Saddened by the demise of former Singapore President SR Nathan. Singapore has lost a distinguished leader who was widely admired," PM Modi said.

"We in India join the people of Singapore in deeply mourning the passing away of former President Nathan. Condolences to his family," the Prime Minister said.

S R Nathan died on Monday after suffering from a stroke three weeks ago.

He was 92.

Nathan served as the President of Singapore from 1999 to 2011.
