Katra, J & K, Apr 19 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in Kashmir on Tuesday and addressed a public gathering here, congratulated Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and hailed her as someone who talks about Kashmir's development.

"I was hearing Mehbooba ji. The enthusiasm with which she spoke of the future of J&K and her energetic leadership...I congratulate her," PM Modi said after hearing Mufti address the gathering.

"Mehbooba ji always talks about the development of J&K when we meet. When such a thought is there, development is bound to happen," he said.

Modi, who spoke about Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the former CM of the state and father of the incumbent, said, "We remember Mufti Sahab. He spent years in public life. One thing was always on his mind: to bridge the gap between Jammu & Srinagar."

Speaking about Kashmir's educational infrastructure, the PM said that the place attracts a lot of students due to its beautiful surroundings.

"This land is drawing students from all over the nation and this gives strength to India."

He also spoke at length about sports and why it should be implemented on a daily basis.

"Without 'Khel' there cannot be 'Khilna'...the person who plays, shines," he said.

"We are hosting FIFA U-17 World Cup and this has to be an opportunity for us to celebrate sports. The world should see our Yuva Shakti," PM Modi added.

Highlighting key aspects of sports, the Prime Minister said that it acts as an antidote against illness.

"Where there is sports you can stay away from illness. Preventive healthcare is very important," he said.

"Cleanliness ensures we remain free from illness," he said.

Modi, who had earlier in the morning inaugurated a super specialty unit in Katra, said that it will benefit people as they will not have to travel far to avail good treatment.

"With this hospital people will not have to go very far for treatment. And the weather here is also very good," Modi said.

Urging citizens for an inclusive development, the Prime Minister said, "We all have to work together for the development of India and this development has to be quick paced and all inclusive."

Echoing Mufti's sentiments of a high impact tourism facility in Kashmir, the PM said that both the state and central governments are working in tandem to provide better facilities.

"Centre and State Government are working together for the infrastructure development in J&K. Tourism potential is immense here," he said.
