PM attends meeting of Somnath Trust

New Delhi, Sept 10 (IBNS): A meeting of the Board of Trusties of Somnath Trust was held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Delhi, on Saturday.

As the Chairman of the trust Keshubhai Patel being unwell could not attend the meeting, L.K. Advani chaired the meeting.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Harshavardhan Neotia, P K Laheri and Shri J D Parmar as the trustees, also attended the meeting.

The newly appointed trustee Amitbhai Shah was welcomed by the board.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to develop the Somnath as an ancient heritage pilgrimage as well as a tourist destination.

The Trust reviewed the progress of various Projects of continuous growth of devotees visiting Somnath.

The Trustees also said that as Somnath is about to witness one crore of Yatris, the state of the art infrastructure for the all-round development should be envisioned.

Somnath has more than 2 million followers on social media.

The Prime Minister also suggested excavations of areas to establish various missing historic links.

He said that high-tech marine attractions and virtual reality shows should be covered in the future plan.

He also suggested to bring maximum areas under CCTV surveillance network.

The Somnath Trust has also decided to deposit about 6 kg gold under Gold Monetisation Scheme of Government of India.
