New Delhi, Oct 14 (IBNS): Telling Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's family to consider him as a part of his family, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the process of declassification of files relating to the freedom fighter will commence from Jan 23 next year.

Netaji's birthday is observed on that day.

After meeting members of Netaji's family, Modi tweeted: "It was a privilege to welcome family members of Subhas Babu to 7RCR. We had a remarkable & extensive interaction. I told Subhas Babu's family members- please consider me a part of your family. They shared their valuable suggestions with me."

He said: "Process of declassification of files relating to Netaji will begin on 23rd January 2016, Subhas Babu's birth anniversary."

Modi said his government will request foreign governments to declassify files on Netaji available with them.

"Will also request foreign Governments to declassify files on Netaji available with them. Shall begin this with Russia in December," Modi tweeted.

On Sept 18, the West Bengal government had declassified 64 files related to Netaji. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said the Centre should follow the lead of the state government.
