Person entrusted to protect the country is creating chaos: Jaya attacks Modi

Lucknow, May 1 (IBNS): Actress-turned politician Jaya Bachchan indirectly attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow saying the person who is responsible for protecting nation is creating chaos and disorder, media reports said.

At this point in time, the one who is responsible for protecting the nation is the one who is creating chaos and disorder," Bachchan, who is a Samajwadi Party (SP) MP from Rajya Sabha, said as quoted by NDTV.

The SP leader was in Lucknow to campaign for her party's candidate Poonam Sinha.

"The enthusiasm and zeal what you are showing today, I want to see this zeal while voting. You all have to support our candidates who are contesting, with the same amount of enthusiasm and prove that Samajwadi workers are with them," Bachchan further said as quoted by NDTV.

Sinha will be facing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veteran and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in the Lucknow battle.

In the 2019 General Election, the SP, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) have stitched an alliance to defeat the BJP, which had alone bagged 71 out of 80 Lok Sabha seats in the northern state.
