Persecuted religious minority migrants from Bangladesh and Pakistan based in India now eligible for MEA Self Financing Scheme
New Delhi, Nov 22 (IBNS): India's Ministry of External Affairs has decided to expand scope of the Self Financing Scheme for foreign nationals from developing countries for admission in select courses in Indian educational institutions to include persecuted religious minority migrants from Bangladesh and Pakistan based in India, according to a release by the ministry on Wednesday.
The Ministry of External Affairs runs a Self Financing Scheme for foreign nationals from developing countries for admission in MBBS / BDS / B E / B. Pharmacy, Diploma in Engineering / Diploma in Pharmacy in institutions in India against seats allotted by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Ministry of Human Resource Development to the Ministry.
A few Seats in Post Graduation (MD/MS) course at Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi are also available under this scheme.
The Ministry of External Affairs said in its release that It has been decided to include persecuted religious minority migrants from Bangladesh and Pakistan based in India within the purview of this Scheme for admission in Post Graduation MD/MS course from academic year 2018-19 with a view to facilitating their greater access to educational institutions in India.
Applications from eligible persecuted religious minority migrants from Bangladesh and Pakistan based in India for nominations to Post Graduate MD/MS
courses under Self-Financing Scheme for the academic year 2018-19 against seats to be granted by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare to Ministry of External Affairs may be forwarded to Ministry of External Affairs, US (Education) latest by March 19, 2018.
All applicants under the Scheme are required to appear in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG conducted by NBE for admission in PG MD/MS
courses in India as per Section 10(D) of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
They must also fulfill other conditions laid down under the Scheme and the educational institutions.
