People who damaged public properties must be killed: Dilip Ghosh; Babul Supriyo calls statement 'irresponsible'

Kolkata/IBNS: Courting yet another controversy, West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Dilip Ghosh has recently said people who have damaged the public properties in West Bengal while protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, must be killed following the footsteps of Uttar Pradesh and Assam.

At a public meeting in the state, Ghosh said, "Mamata Banerjee has no guts to take action against those who had resorted to arson. Those who damaged the public properties must be shot and killed like our governments did in Uttar Pradesh and Assam."

Countering his own party chief, Union Minister and BJP MP from West Bengal's Asansol, Babul Supriyo, tweeted, "BJP, as a party has nothing to do with what a DIlipGhosh may hv said•It is a figment of his imagination&BJP Govts in UP, Assam hv NEVER EVER resorted to shooting people for whatever reason whatsoever•Very irresponsible of DilipDa to hv said what he said."

Following the massive violent anti-CAA protests broke out in Uttar Pradesh killing at least 20 people, the BJP government there under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had attached the properties of all agitators to compensate the government losses.

Few days ago, Ghosh had courted a controversy by not making way for an ambulance while holding a public meeting.

Justifying his action, the leader had said, "The ambulance was sent by Mamata Banerjee (West Bengal Chief Minister) to disrupt the public meeting." Later he told a news channel that he will do the same in future too.
