According to reports, Rajendra Prasad Dhanuk (57), who was a resident of Garden Reach area and a part-time employee of United Bank of India (UBI), was being treated in the Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) with severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) since Nov 27.

The patient, who was also suffering from mental fatigue, jumped from a 5th-floor window of the hospital building on Saturday morning.

He was rescued from the roof of hospital's auditorium and rushed to the Critical Care Unit under ventilatory support and was declared dead.
