Passports won't serve as address proof anymore?

| @indiablooms | Jan 13, 2018, at 02:04 am

New Delhi, Jan 12 (IBNS): Passports will soon stop serving as valid proof of address, media reports said.

This comes as the foreign ministry announced that the last page of the passport will not contain details like the address, father's name and the name of the mother or spouse.

The decisions follow a report by a joint panel of foreign ministry and Women and Child Development ministry officials.

The decisions were adopted following requests for removing father's name in the passport and also to protect the details of the citizen.

According to reports, the report has been accepted.
