Panaji bypoll: Congress candidate Atanasio Monserrate files nomination
Panaji, Apr 26 (UNI): Former Goa Education Minister Atanasio Monserrate on Friday filed nomination papers as Congress candidate for Panaji bypoll to be held on May 19, 2019.
He was accompanied by Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Chandrakant 'Babu' Kavlekar, former Chief Ministers Pratapsingh Rane and Ravi Naik, among others.
Before filing nomination papers, Monserrate offered prayers at Mahalaxmi Temple and The Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church in the city.
He was the first candidate to file nomination papers. Bye-election to Panaji Assembly constituency has been necessitated due to demise of former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. Parrikar had passed away on March 17, 2019.
