Pakistan probe team says Pathankot attack was staged by India, claims Pak media report

Islamabad, Apr 5 (IBNS): Pakistan's Joint Investigation Team or JIT, which had recently visited India to investigate the Pathankot attack, has called the incident as staged, country's media reports claimed on Tuesday.

"A source privy to the details of the report said the JIT report has concluded that the Indian authorities had prior information about the attackers,"  Pakistan Today reported.

"He said that India used the attack as a tool to expand its 'vicious propaganda' against Pakistan 'without having any solid evidence to back the claim'," it said.

The team had visited Pathankot on Mar 27. The team included on  Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) officer.

"According to the source, the JIT’s report says that the Indian government did not cooperate with the JIT and instead made efforts to hinder the probe by the Pakistani team," Pakistan Today reported.

“The report also raises serious questions over the veracity of Indian claims regarding the Pathankot attack. The JIT has concluded that contrary to the claims of the Indian government about the duration of the encounter, the standoff between the Indian army and alleged terrorists ended within hours of the attack,” the newspaper quoted the JIT source as saying.

“Indian authorities also failed to establish that the attackers entered from Pakistan,” the report, as per Pakistan Today, said.

The newspaper claimed the report will be submitted to the Pakistan government ‘in the next few days’.

Six Pak  terrorists had attacked the air base  engaging security forces in a gun-battle  on Jan 2 for almost 80 hours.

India has blamed Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed for the attack.
