New Delhi, Jan 28 (UNI) India on Tuesday summoned a senior official from the Pakistan High Commission here and made a strong demarche against abduction of a Hindu girl from her marriage ceremony on January 25.

Sources said here: "India also made a demarche regarding desecration of Mata Rani Bhatiyani temple in Tharparkar Sindh province on January 26".

Indian government has asked the Government of Pakistan to investigate and take "urgent action" for protecting and promoting the security, safety and welfare of its citizens including the minority Hindu community in Pakistan.

It also said that authorities in Pakistan must "take immediate measures to expeditiously" bring the perpetrators of such despicable and heinous acts to justice.

In the recent incident in Pakistan, the Hindu woman was abducted, converted and then married to a Muslim man in the country's Matiari district in Sindh province, media reports said on Monday.

The Hindu woman has been identified as Bharti Bai.

The 24-year-old Hindu woman was allegedly kidnapped by assailants under the supervision of local police authorities from her wedding venue in Hala, a city located in Matiari district in Sindh province, about 215 km away from the provincial capital Karachi, reported India Today.

Kishore Das, the father of Bharti Bai, was quoted as saying by the news channel that his daughter's marriage ceremony was underway when the kidnapper named Shah Rukh Gul came with several men along with policemen and took his daughter away in broad daylight.
