Pakistan fires unprovoked, violates ceasefire along LoC in Poonch

Jammu, July 28 (UNI): Pakistan on Sunday violated the ceasefire agreement by firing unprovoked along the Line of Control in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Defence spokesperson Colonel Devendra Anand, at about 1700 hours, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing of small arms and intense shelling with mortars along LoC in Shahpur and Saujiyan sectors in Poonch.

"Indian Army is retaliating beffittingly to the cross border firing," he further said.

However, no injury or major damage was reported so far, he added.

On July 22, an Indian soldier was killed in Pakistani firing in Keri Battal area of Akhnoor sector.

On July 20, Pakistan violated the Ceasefire in Poonch district. Also on July 12, Indian Army retaliated to the cross border firing as Pakistan violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control in Poonch and Rajouri districts.
