New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed shock over the crash of the Chinese flight carrying 132 passengers in China’s Guangxi.

In a tweet, he wrote: "Deeply shocked and saddened to learn about the crash of the passenger flight MU5735 with 132 on board in China’s Guangxi. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the crash and their family members."

The Boeing 737 of China Eastern Airlines, which flew from Kunming to Guangzhou, crashed in Tengxian County in the city of Wuzhou, triggering a mountain fire, reported Xinhua news agency.

The 132 people included 123 passengers and nine crew members, the Civil Aviation Administration of China said.

The airline has deeply mourned the loss of passengers and crew, without specifying how many people had been killed.

The exact casualty figure is still not known.
