OROP suicide: Rahul Gandhi detained again
The Congress leader was reportedly detained from the Connaught Place police station .
According to reports, he had visited the station to meet the family of an ex-serviceman who allegedly committed suicide reportedly on the one rank one pension (OROP) issue.
Rahul Gandhi, who was detained earlier in the day too, had questioned the Delhi's police about the arrest of the deceased veteran's son, media reported.
He said, "Aren't you ashamed of arresting the veteran's son?"
Delhi Police senior official said they the department will not tolerate demonstrations in front and within the hospital.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, commenting on the issue, said, "Police will do what it takes to reduce risks," according to media reports.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee came out in support of Gandhi and said it was 'unfortunate' that he was stopped from visiting 'bereaved family' of the jawan.
"Very sad that one of our former jawans committed suicide. Unfortunate that @OfficeOfRG & @msisodia stopped from visiting bereaved family 1/2," Banerjee tweeted.
She said: "They should be allowed. Our representative is on his way to Delhi 2/2."
