On 2nd May, hold me to my last tweet: Election strategist Prashant Kishor on Bengal polls

Kolkata/IBNS: Election strategist Prashant Kishor, who is working for the ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, once again exuded confidence in Mamata Banerjee's party in the upcoming polls scheduled to begin on Mar 27.

Kishor on Saturday shared Trinamool's poll slogan "Bangla Nijer Meykei Chae (Bengal wants its own daughter)" on Twitter saying people will show the "RIGHT CARD".

Kishor tweeted, "One of the key battles FOR DEMOCRACY in India will be fought in West Bengal, and the people of Bengal are ready with their MESSAGE and determined to show the RIGHT CARD - #BanglaNijerMeyekeiChay (Bengal Only Wants its Own Daughter) PS: On 2nd May, hold me to my last tweet."

In a similar tweet on Dec 21, 2020, Kishor had claimed Trinamool's prime opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will fail to get even 100 seats while the saffron party is confident of winning 200 of 294 seats.

He had tweeted, "For all the hype AMPLIFIED by a section of supportive media, in reality BJP will struggle to CROSS DOUBLE DIGITS in #WestBengal PS: Please save this tweet and if BJP does any better I must quit this space!"

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday announced an eight-phase polls in West Bengal, which is set to witness a tough battle between West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and an aggressive BJP, driven by Narendra Modi-Amit Shah.

The elections to 294 seats will begin on Mar 27 and end on Apr 29 while the votes will be counted on May 2.

While Banerjee has criticised the ECI's decision to hold an eight-phase poll, the Opposition has welcomed the move.
