Srinagar, Apr 30 (IBNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed profound grief and sorrow over an incident of firing in Nawa Kadal that has resulted in the loss of a life.

Expressing his solidarity with the bereaved family, Omar Abdullah has said that the circumstances leading to this tragic loss of life would be thoroughly probed.

The Chief Minister has extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and said that such incidents are a matter of personal pain and grief for him and he will ensure that the matter is probed in a thorough and transparent manner.

Meanwhile, National Conference (NC) party president and candidate for the Srinagar Parliamentary seat Farooq Abdullah has expressed grief and sorrow over the incident of firing resulting in the loss of a life in Nawa Kadal this evening.

Condemning the incident, Farooq has asked the state government to conduct a transparent and time-bound probe to ascertain the truth.

Farooq Abdullah has said that he stands with the family in this moment of inconsolable sorrow and loss.

Meanwhile, opposition party Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly condemned the killing of a youth Waseem Ahmad of Gratbal Safakadal in the firing of security forces.

Party president Mehbooba Mufti said killings with impunity only add to tragedies and it was unfortunate that at the end of a comparatively peaceful day a precious life was lost to disproportionate use of force.

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family Mehbooba said nothing could compensate their loss.

She conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the parents and family of Waseem Ahmad.
