Odisha: PSO of slain Minister Naba Kishore Das placed under suspension

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Wednesday suspended Mitrabhanu Deo, the Personal Security Officer (PSO ) of former Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das from service for alleged dereliction of duty.

The Minister was shot at by Police ASI Gopal Krushna Das from a close range at Brajarajnagar on Sunday last while he was on his way to attend a public function.

The Minister was immediately rushed to Jharsuguda district headquarters hospital and from there shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar where he succumbed to the injuries.

The government suspended the PSO a day after it transferred Jharsugauda SP Rahul Jain, Brajarajnagar SDPO Gupteswar Bhoi and Brajarajnagar Police Station’s IIC Pradyumna Kumar Swain.

The government has also arrested the accused ASI and dismissed him from service.

The Crime branch which is inquiring into the incident has taken Gopal. Krushna Das on a four-day remand and interrogating him.
