Bhubaneswar, May 13 (UNI): The Odisha government will provide new houses to those people whose houses were completely or substantially damaged in the cyclone Fani recently.

Panchayati raj secretary D.K. Singh told newspersons here that 25 teams will conduct a door-to-door survey from May 15 and enumerate the houses.

He said the enumeration would be completed within a week and the government will start issuing work orders for the construction of houses from June 1.

Mr Singh said to maintain transparency the houses would be geo tracked and uploaded on the Odisha portal.

The panchayati raj secretary said while Rs 1.20 lakh will be provided for the construction of houses in coastal districts,Rs 1.30 lakh would be given for the construction of houses in other districts.

He said the chief minister had requested the Prime Minister to provide houses under a special category of the Prime Minister Awas Yojana and has received a positive response.

Replying to a question, Mr Singh said those who had been allotted houses under various housing schemes like Indira Awas Yojana and Prime Minister Awas Yojana would also be eligible to get new houses if their houses were damaged in the cyclone.

Information and public relations officer Sanjay Singh said banking services in all the districts except Khurdha and Puri had been normalised and hoped that other services would also normalise at the earliest.

He said except in Kalinganagar, SBI Colony, Uttara, Baranga and Gothapatna power supply had been restored in all other places in Bhubaneswar.

The restoration of power in Puri, however, would take some more time time as all the supply lines — 220KV, 132 KV, 33 KV and 11kv which supply power to Puri had been extensively damaged in the cyclone.

Singh said work is going on war footing in all the lines simultaneously and hoped that the power would be restored soon in Puri, the worst-hit district.
