O Panneerselvam to pitch for Bharat Ratna for former CM Jayalalithaa

New Delhi, 19 (IBNS): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, who is in the national capital, will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday and urge him to confer the Bharat Ratna on his predecessor J Jayalalithaa.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister is also expected to hand over a letter to the PM, urging him for a life size bronze statue of Jayalalithaa to be installed in the Parliament Complex, Times of India reported.

Jayalalithaa, fondly known as Amma, died on Dec 5, following illness.

During her death, she was still holding office.

O Panneerselvam took oath shortly after her demise.

Jayalalithaa, a top actress and danseuse of yesteryear, left her career to pursue politics under the vigil of MG Ramachandran, also an actor.
