NSCN (IM) again shouts for Nagalim creation, massive protests in Assam

Ahead of singing the final settlement with the Union government, the Naga outfit group has again claimed for creating Greater Nagalim by including the Naga inhabitant areas of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur.

All Assam Students Union (AASU), Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP), Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS), Bihattar Asomiya Yuba Mancha (BAYM) protested across the state against the proposed Nagalim and demanded the both Centre and state government to public the Framework Agreement signed two years back.

“We will not allow a single inch of Assam’s land to be given to the proposed Greater Nagalim. The Framework Agreement was signed between the Centre and NSCN (IM) in August 3, 2015, but why it wouldn’t public yet. Both the Union and state government should clear their stands about it,” AASU general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi said.

Recently, NSCN(IM)’s Kilo Kilonser (Home Minister) Hukavi Yepthomi told to a local news channel of Assam that, we hope the final settlement will provide the legitimate right of the Nagas to integration of all Naga territories.

“We will not compromise with any movement which is against the Nagas. After 80 round talks with the centre, final settlement is now in nearest and it is an historical moment for the Nagas,” the top NSCN (IM) leader said.

Earlier, NSCN (IM)’s General Secretary Thuingaleng Muivah said that, the historic ‘Framework Agreement’ singed with the Union government in New Delhi on Aug 3, 2015 in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had recognized the unique history, the identity, the sovereignty, the territories of the Nagas.

Recently, the Centre’s interlucator RN Ravi had visited Nagaland and first time holding a political dialogue with the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) working committee in the Nagaland soil ahead of the final settlement between the Centre and NSCN (IM).

On the other hand, tension grips in the bordering areas of Assam, after Naga people had allegedly encroached more areas of Assam with support from Naga outfit group NSCN (IM).

According to the reports, Naga people had recently setup few new villages at the bordering areas of Assam’s Sivsagar, Charaideo and Jorhat district.

A local villager of Geleki area said that, encroachment in Assam land by the Naga people are still continued and recently few new villages were setup in Assam land.

“Following this aggressive movement by armed Naga people, few Assamese families had already left from the bordering areas,” the local villager said.

He also said that, the Naga outfit group had asked the Assamese families to pay different structured tax to the organization.
