Not just power, we want change in situation of Bengal: Amit Shah

In his second visit within a week to the poll-bound state, Shah said, "We do not just want the change in power but the situation in West Bengal. We want to make Sonar Bangla where there will be no cut money, no crime against women."

"We will help the fishermen if the BJP government comes to power," the BJP strongman said in a rally in Namkhana, which falls in Trinamool's stronghold South 24 Parganas.

Shah on Thursday once again accused the ruling party of looting cyclone Amphan reliefs on the soil which was greatly affected by the calamity last year amid Covid-19 and lockdown.

"The Trinamool Congress goons had looted the money sent by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after Amphan. The BJP government will investigate the looting of Amphan funding and punish the offenders," the Home Minister said.

Interestingly, Prime Minister Modi during his visit to West Bengal post-Amphan had praised the Mamata Banerjee government over its handling of both Covid-19 and Amphan situation.

"Whoever looted people will face music once the BJP comes to power. On the day of counting of votes, no Trinamool goon will be seen on roads," Shah added.

Countering the allegations, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during a rally at Pailan in South 24 Parganas said, "Who was there during Amphan? Nabanna and South 24 Parganas were shaking on that day due to the cyclone. The Prime Minister had come here to do drama by giving us our money only."

In a bid to reach out to the public servants, Shah ensured the implementation of the seventh pay commission if the BJP comes to power in the polls scheduled to be held in 2021 summer.

"We pledge the BJP government after coming to power will implement 7th pay commission for government employees. I assure that a committee will be formed to decide the salaries of the teachers," Shah said.

Modi during his visit to West Bengal on Feb 7 had accused the Trinamool government of not paying salaries to its employees.
