No one tried to kiss me: Nagma

| | Apr 03, 2014, at 01:35 am
New Delhi, Apr 2 (IBNS): Actor-turned politician Nagma on Wednesday clarified that no one tried to kiss or harass her even as TV footage showed her being manhandled by unruly crowd while she was campaigning in Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha polls.

"Neither did anyone try to kiss me nor did I slap anyone," she told NDTV channel on a day when the Congress party reportedly asked the Election Commission to provide more security to her.

This comes after two incidents of her being allegedly harassed in rallies were caught on camera.

In the first instance, a Congress legislator, Gajraj Singh, grabbed Nagma's face and allegedly kissed her on the cheek in visuals that went viral online and were repeatedly shown on TV. Nagma was seen removing his hand and walking off, without addressing the crowd.

However, the actress said she merely removed his hand while he was trying to say something to her in her ear.

"He is the only legislator we have from there. He treats me like a daughter. He wanted to talk to me about something sensitive; he isn't media savvy," Nagma told the channel.

She also denied slapping a man, which was also captured in camera.

Nagma is the Congress candidate from the Meerut seat in UP.
