No need to name interim CM for unwell Jayalalithaa : Madras High Court
The court's verdict came in response to a petition in this regard by an activist, which reflected a similar demand from the opposition parties following rise in speculations over Jayalalithaa's actual health condition.
Jayalalithaa, 68, has been in hospital since September 22 for what her party said for fever and dehydration.
After few days doctors attending to her put her on a respiratory support and though she responded well, advised her to stay in hospital for few more days for better recovery.
As no medical bulletins were published informing the people about her health condition, large gaps were left between what was going on and the people's perception,sending rumours flying thick.
Her party, the ruling AIADMK, rejected the speculations and doctors from Delhi's AIIMS besides a UK specialist were flown in to attend the Chief Minister for her lung diseases.
The situation prompted Jayalalithaa's opponents, including DMK supremo M Karunanidhi, to demand that a photograph be released of her to confirm that she is well enough to remain in charge of the state.
An activist petitioned the High Court asking that the Government explain details of her condition along with naming an interim Chief Minister to act during Jaylalithaa's absence.
Governor C Vidyasagar Rao who visited Jayalalithaa in hospital a few days ago has advised that a daily bulletin on her health be shared regularly.
The AIADMK has filed police cases against four people for misreporting Jayalalithaa's health on social media.
