No difference between drainage water and drinking water in Delhi: Chandrababu Naidu ahead of polls in national capital
New Delhi/IBNS: Andhra Pradesh chief minister and a key ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), N Chandrababu Naidu, has lashed out at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is facing a 10-year anti-incumbency in the February 5 assembly elections in the national capital.
Naidu, who was campaigning for the BJP in Delhi, slammed Kejriwal for blocking prime minister Narendra Modi's various central schemes besides leaving the national capital of any growth.
He said, "There is no difference between drainage water and drinking water. In 10 years, Modi-ji has given Amrut in urban areas and Jal Jeevan in rural areas, home, tap water with sustainable source.
"Why didn't it happen in Delhi? Ego problem. If he (Arvind Kejriwal) uses that money, the credit will go to the Centre. Is this the way?"
Naidu also slammed the AAP for not agreeing to key central schemes like Swachh Bharat Mission highlighting the "garbage on roads".
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief said, "In Delhi, there is so much garbage on roads. What work had they done despite the availability of all infrastructure? Has any infrastructural project been done in Delhi in 10 years?
"Was there anything done after the metro, which was done long back? Nothing, be it water, hospitals, urban infrastructure, has been done."
The BJP is aiming for a return to power in the national capital after 27 years unseating the AAP government, which is eyeing a third straight term.
The results will be declared on February 8.
On the union budget 2025 which provided a huge relief to the middle class taxpayers, Naidu said, "People are thinking narrowly. If you see, the Budget reflects 2047 'Viksit Bharat'.”
Boosting spending of the middle class and reaching out to the aggrieved salaried group with a big announcement by exempting tax on income of upto Rs 12 lakh, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2025 with a focus on encouraging private investment, assuaging the middle-income constituency and strengthening growth.
Amid high food inflation and shrinking disposable incomes that affected the country's growth story, the FM, who has been accused of unleashing tax terrorism earlier, announced transformative reform in taxation while addressing farmers, the poor and youth besides women.
The FM said the salaried class will not pay any income tax upto Rs 12.75 lakh per annum in the new tax regime while recognising the four engines of growth- agriculture, MSME actor, investment and exports.
Sitharaman announced the setting up of a Makhana board in Bihar to help Makhana farmers get benefits from the Central schemes.
In another key announcement, the FM raised the FDI limit for the insurance sector from 74 to 100 percent, for those companies which invest the entire premium in India.
