No development in UP, only crimes : Modi at Hardoi rally

Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, Feb 16 (IBNS) : Playing on the development plank and targeting the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday attacked the ruling Samajwadi Party and its ally Congress as he made the final push for the BJP before the phase three elections in the state.

Addressing an election rally at Hardoi, the PM said development of India depends on the development of Uttar Pradesh, but neither the SP nor the Congress or BSP thought about the state's development.

"Agar Uttar Pradesh, Bihar se gareebi gayi to maan lijiye Hindustan se gareebi gayi (If poverty can be removed from Uttar Ptadesh and Bihar, it is gone from India)," he said.

"Be it Congress, Samajwadi Party or BSP, no one thought about the development of Uttar Pradesh," Modi alleged.

Assailing Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for "doing nothing" for farmers in this largely agrarian state, the PM said only 14 per cent peasants of the state get the benefits of Bima Yojna for which the funding comes from the Centre.

"If we come to power in UP, the first thing we will do is waive the debts of farmers," he promised.

Invoking the ISRO success, Modi said "There is no any television or newspaper in the world which did not praise India’s scientists yesterday for launching record 104 satellites."

Training his gun on the SP for the alleged deteriorating law and order situation in UP, Modi said the state has the record of maximum number of rapes and murders in the country.

"UP alone registers 50 per cent cases related to Arms act. If unregistered cases are included no other state will even be at 100th position," he said

"Situation in UP due to the failure of state government is such that we need to work to overcome this."

Modi said, "Lord Krishna was born in UP but made Gujarat his workplace. I was born in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh adopted me. UP is like my parents and i am not a son who will leave his parents."
