Nagpur, Oct 25 (IBNS) Violating traffic laws, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday triggered a controversy as he was caught on camera riding a scooter without wearing a helmet.

He was seen  riding a scooter to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Nagpur's Mahal area to meet Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat.

Congress leader Digvijaya Singh criticised Gadkari over not wearing a helmet and asked whether the Police Commissioner Nagpur will register a case against the Union Minister.

Singh tweeted: "Gadkari violates the Law which he should be enforcing by riding a scooter without Helmet. Is this the example he and NDA Govt wants to set ?"

"Would Police Commissioner Nagpur register a case against him or wait for a PIL to be filed against Gadkari ?" he said.
