At that time, nine workers who were working in the unit, sustained burns and they all have now been shifted to the Burns hospital at Airoli in Navi Mumbai, Chief Fire officer of the Ambarnath-Badlapur Fire Brigade Bhagwat Sonone said.

The fire also spread to upper floors of the unit and was about to spread to a nearby dying unit, which was averted by the fire-fighters.

Fire engines from Balapur MIDC, Ambernath, Anand Nagar MIDC, Kalyan and Bhiwandi rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control after over two hours.
