New Delhi, Oct 24 (IBNS): Shahid Yousuf, son of Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin, was arrested in New Delhi on Tuesday by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), in relation to the 2011 terror funding case, according to media reports.

Yousuf, 42, works as a village agriculture assistant in the Jammu and Kashmir state government.

"He was summoned for questioning to Delhi on Tuesday after initial rounds his role was conclusively established in the case and so we arrested him," NIA spokesperson Alok Mittal told NDTV.

The media, quoting the NIA, said that Yousuf was in touch with Saudi Arabia-based Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Aijaz Ahmad Bhat and had received money to fund secessionist and terror activities in the Kashmir Valley.

According to media reports, Aijaz is on the run but investigators have documents from Saudi Arabia and India confirming the transfers.

Incidentally, Syed Salahuddin was declared a Specially Designated Global Terrorist by the US Department of State in June this year, media reported.
