NIA arrests four more in Delhi Red Fort blast case, total held rises to six
New Delhi/IBNS: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday held four more prime suspects in the November 10 blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to six.
After being produced in Patiala House Court on Thursday afternoon, all four were remanded to 10 days of NIA custody by Principal Judge Anju Bajaj Chandra.
The agency identified the men as Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganai of Pulwama (J&K), Dr Adeel Ahmed Rather of Anantnag (J&K), Dr Shaheen Saeed of Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), and Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay of Shopian (J&K).
According to the NIA, each played a crucial role in the terror attack that killed multiple people and injured many others.
The four had previously been detained by Jammu & Kashmir Police for suspected links to a terror module.
An NIA official, speaking on condition of anonymity, described the arrests as among the most important developments since the investigation was transferred to the agency.
“We had earlier taken into custody Amir Rashid Ali, the registered owner of the car used in the blast, and Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish, who allegedly provided technical and logistical support to the bomber,” the officer said.
The widening investigation has uncovered what officials are calling a “white-collar doctor terror module,” involving highly educated individuals.
According to the officer, suspects, including Dr Ganai and Dr Saeed, had been living in a rented flat in Faridabad that doubled as an IED-assembly workshop.
Large quantities of explosive chemicals and assorted weapons were recovered from premises linked to the group.
NIA officers said the latest arrests mark a significant step toward mapping the conspiracy’s full command structure.
“We are working closely with state police to identify and apprehend every individual connected to this terrorist module,” the officer added.
Investigators expect further arrests as interrogations continue and as digital evidence and forensic reports yield new leads.
The NIA is likely to seek extended custody of the newly arrested suspects as it works to piece together the entire plot.
The blast, carried out in a high-security zone just metres from one of Delhi’s most iconic heritage sites, triggered a sweeping multi-agency investigation, extensive raids across Delhi-NCR and Jammu & Kashmir, and lookout notices at airports.
Officials believe the attack was part of a broader plan to execute coordinated strikes in the capital.
