Narendra Modi wishes writer Mahatma Jyothiba Phule on birth anniversary

New Delhi, Apr 11 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday remembered Indian activist, thinker, social reformer and writer Mahatma Jyothiba Phule on his birth anniversary.


Modi tweeted: "I bow to Mahatma Phule on his Jayanti. His selfless efforts towards social reform, women empowerment & education had transformative impacts."

Phule was an Indian activist, thinker, social reformer and writer from Maharashtra.

His work extended to many fields including eradication of untouchability and the caste system, women's emancipation and the reform of Hindu family life.
