Indian PM Narendra Modi and his Dutch counterpart Dick Schoof have discussed ways to further deepen the existing cooperation in the sectors of water, agriculture and health during their recent telephonic conversation.

"Both agreed to elevate the bilateral partnership and provide it a strategic dimension in diverse sectors including trade, defence, security, innovation, green hydrogen and semiconductors," read a statement issued by the Indian government.

"Both emphasized on building the close people-to-people ties and exchanges in the field of education and culture," the statement said.

The two leaders exchanged views on regional and global developments and reiterated commitment to work for promoting peace, security cooperation and stability.

After the telephonic conversation,  Dick Schoof wrote on X: "I just had my first phone call with Prime Minister @narendramodi of India. We spoke about further strengthening the good relations between the Netherlands and India and about opportunities to work together more closely through a strategic partnership in areas like security, water, green hydrogen, agriculture, semiconductors and healthcare. We also discussed other matters such as the war in Ukraine."

India and the Netherlands established diplomatic relations in 1947.

The diplomatic ties between the two nations touched 75 years in 2022.
