Narendra Modi is right about Rajiv: Fadnavis

Indore, MP, May 7 (UNI) Giving a fresh twist to an ongoing controversy, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis averred on Monday that though he considers erstwhile premier Rajiv Gandhi a martyr, there is reality in the statement that Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued in Gandhi’s context. 

“In the period following Gandhi’s assassination, a certain truth came to the fore,” he said at a press conference in Madhya Pradesh’s commercial capital.

The visiting politician credited Modi’s leadership for the international isolation of Pakistan.

Responding to a query regarding the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Bhopal parliamentary constituency candidate Pragya Singh Thakur making an objectionable remark against Ashoka Chakra-recipient Hemant Karkare – who made the supreme sacrifice combatting the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks – Mr Fadnavis said that the entire country views the Indian Police Service officer as a martyr and Ms Thakur later tendered an apology.

“Congress tenure witnessed hatching of a conspiracy against the sadhvi and the majority community. A federal investigation agency has given a clean chit to her and others,” he said.
