New Delhi, Apr 7 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated weightlifter Sathish Kumar Sivalingam on winning the Gold Medal at Commonwealth Games.

"India’s weightlifters are also lifting our position in the medal’s tally. Well done Sathish Kumar Sivalingam for clinching a Gold in the 77 kg weight category. He has entered the history books by winning consecutive Golds in 2 CWGs, Glasgow 2014 and Gold Coast 2018," the Prime Minister said.

Giving India another proud moment,  weightlifter Sathish Sivalingam (77kg) clinched the third gold medal for the country in the ongoing Commonwealth Games here on Saturday.

He lifted a total of 317kg (114kg+173kg) during the competition.

This is the third day of the event.

He  was ahead of the competition and even did not go for his final clean and jerk lift.

Indian weightlifters have clinched several medals, including two golds, in the CWG event so far.

He had won the gold medal during the 2014 Commonwealth Games at Glasgow in Scotland.
