New Delhi/UNI: A day after the mob attack on Nankana Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday called the attack is 'reprehensible', and added that "bigotry is a dangerous, age old poison that knows no borders".

Taking to twitter, the Congress leader said, "the attack on Nankana Sahab is reprehensible and must be condemned unequivocally. Bigotry is a dangerous, age old poison that knows no borders. Love + mutual respect + understanding is its only known antidote".

On Friday, a mob violence has been reported outside the Nankana Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan, the birth place of first Sikh Guru Nanak Dev, where stones were pelted.

Congress party has also condemned that attack and said, "we strongly condemn the vandalism and attack of Nankana Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan. Such acts of bigotry and intolerance cannot be tolerated in a global civilised society".

Condemning the incident, the Union government said on Friday night that, "India strongly condemns these wanton acts of destruction and desecration of the holy place. We call upon the Government of Pakistan to take immediate steps to ensure the safety, security, and welfare of the members of the Sikh community".
