Nagaland CM flags off Assam Rifles Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Unity and Heritage Tri Nation Motorcycle Expedition

Guwahati, Nov 14 (IBNS) : Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang on Tuesday flagged off Assam Rifles Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Unity and Heritage Tri Nation Motorcycle Expedition from Kohima in a colourful ceremony organized under the aegis of Headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles (North).

Initiating the proceedings for Flag Off ceremony the expedition team leader, Col P K S Gaur gave a firsthand glimpse of the highlights of the expedition viz the gains made, memories gathered, adventures and the hospitality which was accorded in all the places they visited, including Bangladesh and Myanmar.

He thanked the Chief Minister for gracing the occasion. The ceremony was attended by Cabinet Ministers, Officers of Nagaland Police, state administration, Assam Rifles Ex Servicemen, Students of Assam Rifles Public School, troops and families of Assam Rifles.

Zeliang complimented the Assam Rifles on conceptualizing an expedition for such a noble cause.

He congratulated 33 member team on covering 2150 kms through a route full of challenges, traversing three nations with the objective to foster force to force connections between the border guarding forces of the three nations (India, Myanmar and Bangladesh), pay homage to the fallen heroes of wars, spread the message of peace and brotherhood.

The Nagaland CM congratulated the riders for negotiating the difficult terrain and challenges thrown up during the journey.

On the occasion the Chief Minister also congratulated the Assam Rifles for the continued good work being done in Nagaland not only for enhancing the security but also contributing in social development through meaningful civic action.

Zeliang wished the enthusiastic team members all the very best for the remaining tour and prayed to the almighty for the success of the expedition.

The team on its way to Dimapur visited the Kohima World War II Cemetry and paid tributes to the fallen heroes of World War II.

The Naga Riders Club, Dare Devils led the team till the outskirts of Kohima in a symbolic gesture of solidarity with the cause of the Expedition.
