Thane/UNI: A fire erupted on Wednesday at Aadharwadi dumping ground in Kalyan city of this district, informed Fire Brigade Department.

The fire broke out at the dumping ground around 1330 hours, said an official of the civic-run Aadharwadi Fire Station, adding that there was no casualty in the mishap.

The fire was not major but due to the heavy wind it spread across 1 km and carried a foul smell, he said.

Three fire engines fought the blaze and managed to douse it nearly after three-hour struggle.

A probe is underway to ascertain the cause of fire.
