Mumbai Crime Branch probes BJP leader Kirit Somaiya's purported 'sex video'

Mumbai/IBNS/UNI: The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has started a probe into a purported sex video featuring BJP leader Kirit SomaiyaAired by a Marathi news channel the alleged video shows him in a compromising position with a woman. 

Crime Branch sources said that Unit 10 will investigate the video's authenticity with the help of technical and cyber experts.

The Crime Branch will place a request for the complete video clip from the Marathi news channel that originally aired it and a letter will be sent to the channel to verify the video's authenticity. the sources added.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also holds the home portfolio, has ordered an inquiry into the matter, prompted the police to commence the investigation.

After the purported video went viral, Somaiya himself tweeted, urging Fadnavis to investigate the matter.

As a result of its widespread dissemination, all political parties have called for an inquiry into the incident.
